Well, the thing about "ignore", as has been humorously reconciled by the regulars, is
that no one knows when they are being ignored. That is unless, someone loudly
proclaims the PLONK.
Unfortunately, however, the Admins are not allowed to ignore anyone. It's part of the
design of the software. And that makes sense.
For the most part a global ignore means me going in and hand typing the ignored person:
F-a-t-h-e-r (space) L-u-k-e
...on everyone's individual profile. It's not a simple click. Even in the age of cut
and paste, it still means individually modifying a hundred plus profiles by hand. So,
you probably won't be ignored anytime soon. Not "globally".
Does this mean that a particular admin may scan your poasts, while having little
interest? Could be. Could also be that things said in the heat of argument get
forgotten. People, being the overlooking things they are, sometimes have an
opportunity to reconcile decisions based upon current circumstances.
Ever been to the craigslist forums? I hear they eat usenet vetrans alive. That was
the foundation for those who started some of the first writing forums the Mary
Veterans first frolicked in.
Oh look. I ended a sentence with a proposition.
As for myself, I've never been, and those flaming days of yore are sort of over
for me now. Flaming is a nice place to visit, but I'm glad I don't live there... .
The point is that Jenifer is one tough bitch, and one I've chosen to be my best
friend. She's had my back more times than I can mention. Sometimes she even lets me
speak for myself when she gets tired of holding my hand. And I do the same for her.
Suffice to say admins can't ignore. And with that, my part in all this is pretty much
done.
The original poast will remain stickied at the top, in every page of this thread just
in case anyone -- quietly, or with much bravado, pomp, and ceremony -- decides they'd
rather ignore any certain poasters. Anyone except the admins, who must forever learn
the lessons of love and tolerance. Even if they proclaim otherwise...
And okay to all that.
